Zucchini grex:  We had 4 contributions to this grex, from KS, MT, UT and KY - zucchini with no variety name, Goldini (OSSI, bred by C. Deppe), Golden, and a zucchini grex.  Good for adding some genetics to your own zucchini grex/landrace.

Acorn/Delicata grex:  We had 2 contributions to this grex, from KY and CA - Delicata, and an acorn/delicata grex of 10+ varieties grown together.  Good for adding some genetics to your own acorn/delicata grex/landrace.

‘Reckless’ Pepo grex:  The ‘Reckless’ Pepo grex resulted from a discussion about the deliciousness and desirability of spaghetti x zucchini hybrids.  We received these hybrid seeds as well as seeds of the following crosses:  Mandan x Lofthouse Zucchini, Hopi Yellow Crookneck x Darkstar Zucchini, Cocozelle Zucchini x Yellow Crookneck, and seeds of Delicata, Yellow Crookneck, Black Beauty Zucchini, Costata Romanesco, Striata D’Italia, Lofthouse Landrace, Homs Kousa, Long Pie Pumpkin, Zephyr, Lofthouse Crookneck, and Yellow Scallops Bush.  Be prepared for fruits that are delicious at every stage and store well when mature.  Please save seeds from the ones you like best to include in next year’s grex!

Packets contain approximately 10-15 seeds.

Are seeds really free?

Our mission is to make diverse seeds available to everyone. Although the seeds are free, you will need to pay for shipping. In addition, we ask you to consider making a donation to cover program costs. This allows us to make seed free for those who need it.

When will I get my seeds?

Seeds will ship within a week of ordering. This program is run by dedicated and hardworking volunteers.  Going to Seed is not a seed company. You may receive packages that have less than the stated number of seeds, germination rates may not meet the federal standards, shipping may be slower than you prefer, or there may be any other number of unanticipated glitches. Please be patient with us as we improve the standards over time.

How are seeds packaged?

Seeds are packed in moisture proof, 100% compostable materials. We recommend saving this packet to fill and send back to the program.

About the Seed Steward

My name is Debbie Ang and I am a home gardener living in Utah at an elevation of 4300 ft (zone 7a) and <20” rain/yr.  Squash are one of my favorite plants because of the beautiful vines and the wide range of tastes, shapes, colors and sizes of fruits.  Some varieties store well for months and do not require any special preservation techniques, perfect for a lazy person like me!
