We don’t know for sure where the wild ancestors of these melons first grew. Different shapes, colors, and flavors of these beloved fruits were developed by farmers in Western Asia, Northern Africa, and the Middle East.

When you order this kit, you're joining a nationwide project to grow local seed supplies. Use it to engage with your local community and inspire new seed savers, adapting and selecting sweet melons to your community's climates and preferences.

The seeds in our packets are a diverse mix of heirlooms that were allowed to cross-pollinate in previous generations, providing the greatest opportunity for selecting vigorous plants under your local growing conditions, as well as reducing the barriers for home seed savers (there are fewer requirements for isolation). We teach people to celebrate community-selected seeds, flavor, and diversity over uniformity.

Kit contains 20 zines and 20 packets of diverse Cucumis melo (muskmelon) seed.
